Post Majority Support Services
La Rong CFS is proud to offer Post Majority Support Services. PMSS assist youth and young adults who have aged out or are aging out of the care of a CFS Agency or the Ministry of Social Services and who are currently residing on reserve.
The goal of PMSS is to provide support that meets the distinct needs of Frist Nations young adults that promotes and supports holistic positive outcomes for thriving young adults, with the intention of getting them to a point of independence.
Post Majority Support Services aim to support the safety and well-being of First Nations young adults in a way that is:
- culturally appropriate
- in their self-identified best interest
- provided on the basis of substantive equality
Examples of support available but not limited to:
- Financial Support – livable basic income, budgeting, funding to meet basic needs, etc.
- Education Support – education related costs, technology required for education, cultural learning, support to navigate education system and options, etc.
- Housing Support – needs-based financial support, rent and rental subsidies, basic home repairs, basic household necessities, etc.
- Wellness Support – prescribed non-insured medical and dental services, recreation and sports, counselling, sexual and gender identity supports, access to holistic services, etc.
